A blog about mental health

2023 HERE WE COME. – “WE MADE IT!”

Hello there, HUMAN!

We will like to begin by saying “Thank you!” Yes, you! Because many readers reached out wondering about our next post. We have always stated that we are HUMAN, meaning not all our days are built the same. Maybe this month isn’t as packed as the next, so we have more time to write on our ‘HighTidesBlog.’ Next month might be super packed, which leads to zero posts.

This led to our decision to create a steady schedule to help our audience follow our content. Therefore, starting January 2023, we will be committing to posting on the 16th of every month.

Our Monthly Editions will include the following:

  • Mental Health (including Suicide/Suicidal Thoughts) – Informative
  • Tidal Waves – Poems
  • Drift Away – Short Stories/Passages

We also wanted to honor that we are HUMAN because it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the demands of running a blog.

Truth be told, showing up today after not showing up for weeks (months >.<) is the reason this blog was created.

If you or someone you know is having a crisis:

Using one of the above resources ensures you reach a trained counselor who provides a safe place for everyone regardless of severity.

“Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: It is easier to say ‘My tooth is aching’ than to say ‘My heart is broken.’”

– C.S Lewis

Seasonal Depression

The last few months have been difficult on everyone to some capacity. There are many challenges that HUMANS face daily. When these challenges are mixed with depression, one can only imagine its impact on their mental and physical health.

What is Seasonal Depression or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)?

Also known as winter blues – this depression is related to the change of seasons. Symptoms begin to show up around the fall and last until spring. During this time, your energy and motivation levels will be low. We need to try to learn to detect them early on to have a chance to conquer them.

The most common symptoms include:

  • Sleeping too much
  • Eating too much
  • Sudden weight gain
  • Weak or low energy levels

If you become hopeless or begin to have suicidal or self-harm idealizations. Please reach out to someone or use the resources listed above.

CHECK THESE OUT:

  • Welcome the natural light into your home
  • Connect with nature during a nice walk
  • Workout, Dance, Run, Walk, Move
  • Honoring your sleep by getting enough deep rest

We wish you a safe and happy holiday. To those who have a hard time, just know that we are proud because you are still here today.

Thank you for being you! Take a deep breath and release.
